For marine aquariums, what is your favorite fish and why?

da bandit asked:

This will help me get the last addition to my tank, Thank you……..
I thought my tank was 60 gallon arcryllic, but someone who has more experience than I do which I have 17+ years, told me that my tank is closer to 100 gallons, it’s way to big for 60, so yeah, I have all reef I have a blue hippo, powder blue tang, 3 butterflies, 2 percula clowns, a Naso tang, palani tang, orange shoulder tang, koran angel, saddleback wrasse, christmas wrasse, dragon wrasse and a squirrelfish. I was wondering why they had plenty of swimming room.

Anyways, Marine fish is saltwater fish, gouramis are freshwater fish fyi………..

I know 15-20 fish is a lot for a 90-100 gallon tank, but one more will be enough, I just want variety of colors along with the live rocks and some coral.

Triggerfishes is cool, but they are very aggressive and my experience with triggerfish is really bad, he ate my other fish, so as much as I would like them, I cannot add them to my tank. Thanks…………
Catlover, yes you are correct, and because majority of the fishes will get pretty big, I think you’re right, there is enough fishes in there, however, I do have another tank already cycled for extra fish, but I like your answer. With 7+ years experience of marine aquariums, and 10+ years of freshwater tanks, I can make it work, however, I’ll go by your advice of not adding any more to my bigger tank. Thanks for your answer, I’ll be waiting on seeing others and I’ll choose who has the best answer within the next 24 hours. Once again, thank you for your answer…………
BigGourami, yes I do know that Butterflies and Koran angels will eat my live rock and coral, however, in my tank, they haven’t been eating the corals and live rock because I got them to feed on flakes which took awhile to do so because they’re so fragile and they are picky on eating certain diets. I do have experience with them, but I know what I’m doing and yes they’re doing really well right now. But I do have the knowledge of that and I also thank you for your concerns and your answer is one of the top answers so far as well. Thank you………….

jenao66 asked:

I have an 11-12 gallon glass rectangle fishtank, i want to convert it into a saltwater/reef aquarium. What exact equipment do i need? as in brand and name of the items, because i want to buy them online, because i know they will be pretty expensive at the fish store. THANKS!!
I have no equipment, my fish tank is 22″ long, 10″ wide, and 12″ tall…so i think thats about 12 gallons, and i want to put some fish in it, some life rock and some coral hopefully some anemone for my clown fish i want to put in. Will all that workout together?
And i have no experience at all, but my dad is very experienced, we once had a 55 gallon fish tank. So he can help out if needed.

Is it legal to catch aqarium fish on Fluorida reef?

Emily W asked:

Salt water aquarium fish may be quite expensive, ie. yellow-tangs may coast up to $40/each and some angel fish can be over 100 grand a piece. I had the idea that if I go to the Florida key reef, I can catch some fish for my reef aquarium, of course I will not break coral as it takes decades for coral to grow back.
Question:
If i catch a few angel fish and yellow tangs on the fluorida keys, would this be illegal?? Would I be liable to some type of fine??

I just started a Salt water aquarium and have a few questions. PLEASE HELP ME?

wwefan3620 asked:

So I started this new Marine Aquarium, the salinity level is perfect, the ph, nitrites, nitrates, and all that other stuff is fine. The only thing that is out of whack is the amonia level, it is HIGH!! How do i lower it? I was told to add this thing called “cycle” it has some kind of bacteria in it that is supposed to help, but so far… nothing. I also wanted to know about live rocks. I added a live rock that I bought from the pet store, and they said it was cured…. how do I know for sure? Is there any maintainence to a live rock, or anything I should watch for on it? Do I need to wait for the amonia level to drop to add fish?, shrimp?, crabs? Also if you want to add any extra tips about marine/salt water aquariums… PLEASE DO SO, I need all the info I can get. Thanks a ton guys.
The tank is 29 Gallons. I think I want a few clown fish and sea stars.. would that work?
