I will be getting a 12 gallon Deluxe nano cube for christmas. I want to set up a small reef for my apartment. I have had tanks in the past for saltwater that were bigger a 55 gallon and 30 gallon. But I am looking for he best way to do it with out taking up a lot of room storing salt or having to go get R/O water. I was thinking of using water that Petco sells. Its pre mixed saltwater that comes in 5 gallon boxes. Just was thinking of using that cause I dont have much room in the apartment. Has anyone used this stuff before. Also what are recommendation for corals I can use with the lighting that the tank comes with. Any info on setting this tank up would be great Thanks!!!!
What did you mean to take out sponge and bio balls.
I’ve had my clownfish (who i believe is a Percula clown) for a little over a week now. It never wants to leave the very top corner of the tank, it even sticks its face and fins out of the water constantly. It seems healthy otherwise, and it eats a lot…. I just don’t understand why it won’t go anywhere else in the tank. Is there any thing i should do? I got an anenome, but I don’t think the right kind for this type of clownfish (the pet store lied!). It is not changing its attitude any. I don’t think it even knows the anemone is there because it never leaves the top corner of the tank. Do you think it needs a friend? Any suggestions?
btw- i have a yellow tang, royal gramma, some hermit crabs, a chocolate chip starfish, and a condy anenome
The tank has been set up for about 3 weeks. We have gotten the water checked by the pet store many times and they say it is great. The clownfish was the second fish i put in the tank, and it wasn’t acting like that the first couple of days. i’ve been researching and the description of a “swim bladder infection” is sounding like a good possibility. All these websites are saying to feed it peas. Any one know what kind of peas, and how??
so im getting a BioCube 14 in the next week and i plan on doiing nano reef type setup with live sand and live rock and coral and fish and inverts. So i was wondering if there was any neccesary extras i need for my future setup. I need to get the biocube protein skimmer right? and i would need a heater right? Dont BioCubes have departments for certain stuff like so you can customize it?
also do you think a piece of Ikea furniture will hold it? the piece is a ‘bookshelf’ but its horizontal and it just has squares where you would put books right now i have probably 20lbs of stuff on it and its fine and its seems sturdy i mean i weigh about 100lbs and i can apply my body weight and some pressure and it seems fine. because i know the tank will weigh up to around 150 lbs.
