You need a lot more information than you can get here. A great source to start with would be the archives of “Freshwater and Marine Aquarium Magazine”. This will at least get you started asking the right questions.
a 10 gallon saltwater tank is otherwise known as a nano marine tank, and one of the hardest types to keep. if it’s under 30 us gallons, it’s generally only recommended for experienced marine keepers and is going to need very very careful monitoring, definately don’t plan any holidays in the near future!
have a look at the two links below, i’ve never been able to attempt marine just because it’s far too expensive for me.
a mantis may be able to be kept in a 10 gallon, but it’d be mantis only. and some smasher mantis’s have been known to crack tanks! they’d eat any other inverts that went in with them. they’re fast becoming a popular marine pet though and can come in stunning colours.
costs would be low.sea mats ,polyps,mushroom soft corals will do good in there.i know,i’ve seen it myself.try to use a 50/50 type lamp bulb.”powerglo”by hagen,or coralife.order online, drs.FosterSmith.com.or PetSolutions.com.ect.i would recommend a skimmer,fission nano, or a lees.no more than 2 fish that might stay small,ie.ocellaris clown,atlantic pygmy angel or seahorses,[by themselves]or no fish @all.NO MANTIS SHRIMPS.unless you want a species tank just for him.anyway you it will cost afew hundred dollars but not @once.congradulations!don’t overstock on fish.
